Privacy Policy
Last Updated: February 2, 2026
Overview
SLAB ("we", "our", or "us") is a voice-first workout tracking app. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.
The short version: We collect minimal data necessary to make the app work. We don't collect your name, email, or create user accounts. Your workout data stays yours.
Data We Collect
Anonymous Device Identifier
We use a subscription management service that assigns an anonymous identifier tied to your App Store or Google Play account. This allows you to restore purchases across devices without creating an account with us. We never see your Apple ID, Google account, or payment details.
Workout Data
When you log workouts (via voice or manual entry), we store:
- Exercise names
- Sets, reps, and weights
- Cardio metrics (distance, duration, pace)
- Workout dates and times
This data is stored securely in our cloud database and associated with your anonymous device identifier.
Voice Recordings
When you use voice logging, your audio is sent to our servers for transcription. The audio is processed in real-time using AI speech recognition to convert speech to text, then immediately discarded. We do not store your voice recordings.
Apple Health Data (Optional)
With your explicit permission, SLAB can read and write data from Apple Health, including:
- Workouts (to import cardio activities)
- Heart rate and HRV
- Sleep analysis
- Step count
This data is only accessed when you grant permission and is used solely to display your health metrics within the app. Health data synced to our servers is associated with your anonymous identifier only.
Usage Analytics
We collect anonymized analytics to monitor and improve our AI-powered features, including:
- Transcription accuracy metrics
- Feature usage patterns
- Error rates and performance data
This helps us improve voice recognition accuracy. Analytics data is aggregated and does not identify individual users.
Data We Do NOT Collect
- Your name or email address
- Your location
- Your contacts
- Photos or media (except temporary voice recordings)
- Device identifiers like IDFA
- Any data for advertising purposes
How We Use Your Data
Your data is used to:
- Provide the core app functionality (tracking workouts)
- Process voice commands and log exercises
- Display your workout history and progress
- Manage your subscription status
- Improve our voice recognition and AI features
We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising. We do not share your workout data with third parties except as required to operate the service (see Third-Party Services below).
Third-Party Services
We use trusted third-party services to operate SLAB:
- Subscription management services — Process payments through Apple/Google and provide us with subscription status only. We never see your payment details.
- Cloud database hosting — Stores your workout data securely with encryption at rest and in transit.
- AI processing services — Transcribe voice recordings and extract workout data. Audio is processed in real-time and not retained by these services.
- Analytics services — Monitor AI feature quality with anonymized, aggregated metrics only.
All third-party services we use are bound by their own privacy policies and data protection agreements.
Data Retention
Your workout data is retained as long as you use the app. Since we use anonymous identifiers, if you delete the app and lose access to your App Store/Play Store account, we have no way to associate old data with you.
Voice recordings are processed in real-time and immediately discarded — they are never stored on our servers.
Data Security
We protect your data through:
- Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS)
- Secure cloud infrastructure with encryption at rest
- No storage of sensitive authentication credentials
- Anonymous identifiers instead of personal information
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access — Request a copy of your workout data
- Deletion — Request deletion of all your data
- Portability — Export your workout history
- Opt-out — Revoke Health app permissions at any time
To exercise these rights, contact us at the email below. Since we only have an anonymous identifier, you'll need to provide it from within the app to verify your request.
California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)
California residents have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act and California Privacy Rights Act:
- Right to know what personal information is collected
- Right to delete personal information
- Right to opt-out of the sale of personal information
- Right to non-discrimination for exercising privacy rights
We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for targeted advertising. Since we collect minimal data with anonymous identifiers, most traditional "personal information" categories do not apply to SLAB.
European Users (GDPR)
If you are in the European Economic Area, you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation including:
- Right to access your data
- Right to rectification
- Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten")
- Right to data portability
- Right to object to processing
Our legal basis for processing is legitimate interest (providing the service you requested) and consent (for Health data access). You may withdraw consent at any time by revoking Health permissions in your device settings.
Children's Privacy
SLAB is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with data, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
